John and Jean Mitchell, Founders of On His Path

On His Path was founded by John and Jean Mitchell in 2009 with the desire that children in developing countries could benefit from the Ponseti method of clubfoot correction. Initially, this started with a business John formed in 2004 called MD Orthopaedics, Inc. which designed and manufactures a clubfoot brace along with medical teaching models to teach, train, and implement the Ponseti method of clubfoot treatment. John, along with the support from his wife Jean, started the company in their garage after Dr. Ignacio Ponseti encouraged John to make a more conforming, comfortable brace for the babies that he saw on a daily basis.

After a few years of struggles, John was finally given the okay to try the brace on a baby that had clubfeet with the blessing of the mom that was very frustrated with the other brace the child was wearing. The brace worked amazingly well, and the mom reported that for the first time in weeks they got a full night’s sleep! After several months, it was determined by the doctors that the brace was successful and that it could be used for other patients.

Out of the abundance of God’s blessing upon MD Orthopaedics, Inc., On His Path was born. Several clubfoot initiatives have come from this – including five clubfoot clinics in El Salvador which have made it possible for every child born in that country to receive free treatment for clubfoot. OHP has also funded several clinics in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Haiti that teach the Ponseti method of clubfoot correction. The latest initiative has been partnering with CURE International in opening a clubfoot clinic in the Andhra Pradesh region of India.

Along with the clubfoot initiatives, On His Path follows the example Jesus gave us by helping the poor with housing, clean water, nutrition, medical, and education needs. It is our true desire that Jesus would get ALL the glory, honor, and praise from those OHP helps!
